Watermark Community Church

A Journey Through the Psalms and Proverbs

Mickey Barton

Mickey Barton

Good morning! My name is Mickey. Despite what you might hope, I was not named after Mickey Mouse. I was named after my great grandmother, whose name was Mildred! She went by Mickey.

I found my way to Watermark after moving to Dallas for my first job after college! In the midst of all of that adulting, I was hiding so much shame and desperately needed healing and people around me who could lead me toward Christ. I got in community and went through re:generation—Watermark's spiritual recovery ministry. I saw God's goodness and began to understand the power of God's unfailing love and forgiveness.

I have served at The Porch, Watermark's young adults ministry, for two years. These imperfect people and what the Lord has done to transform their hearts have been a tremendous example for me of what it looks like to follow the Lord in this broken world.

Psalm 113

Who Is like the Lord Our God?

113:1 Praise the Lord!
Praise, O servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord!

Blessed be the name of the Lord
from this time forth and forevermore!
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
the name of the Lord is to be praised!

The Lord is high above all nations,
and his glory above the heavens!
Who is like the Lord our God,
who is seated on high,
who looks far down
on the heavens and the earth?
He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap,
to make them sit with princes,
with the princes of his people.
He gives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children.
Praise the Lord! (ESV)

Psalm 8:9

O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
