A Journey Through the Psalms and Proverbs

Erin  Valerius

Erin Valerius

Hey, guys!

Wow—the last week of summer! What will the Valerius crew do? We'll sleep late, swim with friends, grab some sort of ice-cold treat, pick up some chicken tenders, and stay up late watching funny movies or catching up on American Ninja Warrior. That, my friends, is what makes my heart happy! Add Jesus, all types of music, coffee, and flip-flops into the mix and that just about sums it up. I've been calling Dallas and Watermark home for 10 years now. I am so thankful for the ways the Lord has grown me in this place!

Psalm 137

How Shall We Sing the Lord's Song?

137:1 By the waters of Babylon,
there we sat down and wept,
when we remembered Zion.
On the willows [1] there
we hung up our lyres.
For there our captors
required of us songs,
and our tormentors, mirth, saying,
“Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”

How shall we sing the Lord's song
in a foreign land?
If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
let my right hand forget its skill!
Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth,
if I do not remember you,
if I do not set Jerusalem
above my highest joy!

Remember, O Lord, against the Edomites
the day of Jerusalem,
how they said, “Lay it bare, lay it bare,
down to its foundations!”
O daughter of Babylon, doomed to be destroyed,
blessed shall he be who repays you
with what you have done to us!
Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones
and dashes them against the rock! (ESV)

MEMORY VERSES

Psalm 110:1-7

1 The Lord says to my Lord:
'Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool.'
2 The Lord sends forth from Zion
your mighty scepter.
Rule in the midst of your enemies!
3 Your people will offer themselves freely
on the day of your power,
in holy garments;
from the womb of the morning,
the dew of your youth will be yours.
4 The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind,
'You are a priest forever
after the order of Melchizedek.'
5 The Lord is at your right hand;
he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath.
6 He will execute judgment among the nations,
filling them with corpses;
he will shatter chiefs
over the wide earth.
7 He will drink from the brook by the way;
therefore he will lift up his head.
