A Journey Through the Psalms and Proverbs

Scott Bodell

Scott Bodell

I'm Scott Bodell. I have family and friends reminding me daily that my foundation is built on Jesus Christ. Through my wife of 33 years and my two sons (ages 22 and 26), the Lord convicts and affirms me as I bump down my pathway toward heaven. I serve in the men's Bible study ministry called Summit at Watermark. My immediate community of believers, the men with whom I study, and several others in my life are also used by the Lord to "make [my] paths straight" (Proverbs 3:6, NIV) and equip me for all-out warfare on sin in my life.

FOOLISH FOLLY VS. FOUNDATIONAL WARFARE

Print Print

Proverbs 24:1-9

24:1 Be not envious of evil men,
nor desire to be with them,
for their hearts devise violence,
and their lips talk of trouble.

By wisdom a house is built,
and by understanding it is established;
by knowledge the rooms are filled
with all precious and pleasant riches.
A wise man is full of strength,
and a man of knowledge enhances his might,
for by wise guidance you can wage your war,
and in abundance of counselors there is victory.
Wisdom is too high for a fool;
in the gate he does not open his mouth.

Whoever plans to do evil
will be called a schemer.
The devising [1] of folly is sin,
and the scoffer is an abomination to mankind. (ESV)

MEMORY VERSES

Proverbs 21:1-2

The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord;
he turns it wherever he will.
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
but the Lord weighs the heart.
